Transforming an old bread factory in the old town of L’Escala

From darkness to a dream of white, glass, iron and stone

Welcome to the first DSEA Home Interiors BLOG!

To begin this new path together, we would like to start by talking about a project that marked a before and after in our career in the world of renovations.

Until then, we had carried out renovation work on properties that clients had bought from us in our real estate agency Massafont, SL, in l’Escala. We managed to transform houses into what they dreamed of having as a vacation home.

In this case, we had a peculiar property for sale in the middle of the center of the town, an old bread factory, where on the ground floor there was a warehouse, on the first-second floor a bread factory with low ceilings and very dark and in the third-fourth floor, a small apartment that is very compartmentalized and in poor condition but with a jewel on the roof… unparalleled views of the Bay of Roses and the roofs of the houses in the old town. A spectacular location, just a step away from the beach, shops, restaurants,… just a step away from everything!

It had been there for a few months and the property was still for sale, despite the large number of visits we made given its location.

Finally, we got encouraged and decided to acquire the house ourselves and carry out the transformation process in order to later sell the resulting product. From the first moment we were clear that there would be three small apartments, each with its own style and personality.

What we show you today is the first-second floor that we were talking about, the bread factory. It was very dark, with low ceilings and only windows on one side of the long, narrow floor. The challenge here was important!

We were clear about the style we wanted to give it, that of an industrial loft, but with Mediterranean touches given the location of the property.

White was our ally, walls and floors of this color, glass, the key material, to give a sensation of spaciousness and volume so characteristic of this type of house and iron the star material, we designed together with our blacksmith, with perforated sheet metal. To give prominence and lightness at the same time to a key element in the apartment: the staircase to go up to the loft level.

In the loft level, a transparent glass walkway to access the bedroom and a sliding handcrafted with iron and glass, help create spacious, special and original spaces.

All of this, completed with a decoration with custom-made pieces and furniture designed for the future use of the space, results in a loft-type apartment with Mediterranean touches that is bright, warm and ideal for vacations.

What do you think of the DSEA Apartments Loft?

This is how it was when we acquired it

For us it meant a lot, it was where we realized that acquiring farms to make our product, the product with the DSEA touch, could allow us to have different, special and unique farms for sale that are so sought after today.

In fact, we sold all three apartments suddenly to a client who fell in love as soon as he walked through the door. This is what DSEA Home Interiors seeks, transforming space to create dreams.

See you soon!
